"Official" Release
Despite this game being "finished" a year ago for release at 2020 Nintendo Community Fangames Convention (NCFC), it still had a lot of bugs and details to iron out. The game was finished, yes, but it was honestly a bug ridden mess. I wasn't satisfied to officially release it, whatever that meant.
Usually, this meant to me, releasing it for download on Mario Fan Games Galaxy, as there was no other obvious place at the time. Now, there is itch.io as well. So I am finally submitting it to MFGG and am uploading it on here. I'm not sure either really will have as big of a reach as I would want, but what else can you do with such a niche interest as Mario Fan Games?
I contemplated submitting this to NCFC 2021, which is currently underway. However, as it was not outwardly or obviously different from last year's version, I decided not to.
Changes from last years, however include:
- sprite and animation fixes
- audio rebalancing
- audio fadeouts
- text correction
- fixed a terrible slowdown in CastleTown that would grind a game to a standstill, especially when streaming
Between starting a new business and raising a baby, this got put on the back-burner a lot.
But after a year of slowly fixing and improving parts of this game, I'm finally happy releasing it to the public, as the "official" and "final" release (unless there's some game breaking bug I inadvertently created during my last run of debugging and fixes).
I have another child on the way, and would like to maybe begin work on part 2 soon, before I have even less time to work on games.

Heyo, do you remember me, I'm coming from Newgrounds. I saw your trailer there and even given my first impression on the game.
I played it in my spare time, here's what I've got to say about it.
The premise is very interesting, it's very mature in its tone, kinda reminds me of Tails Gets Trolled and it's got cool dialogues.
Your post mostly speaks about fixing bugs, but somehow I've seen alot of them. I don't hold it against you or your game, stupid bugs tend to show up sometimes at random for no reason even in my games when I double or triple check everything by playtesting several times. I'll just let you know becuz not everyone is a gamedev and not everyone has my patience:
That's all for the bugs, but I have some QOL requests for you:
This could be a great game, there's a ton to it even tho it's only a demo. I like most of the graphics with a few exceptions like the green solid colour for the grass. The music is fantastic, I don't know if you made it because I can say that it doesn't come from any Mario game I know.
Oh BTW, replace the game's name. "Princess Quest" is so generic that just to find your game I have to look up "Princess Quest Itch.io Mario". Not only it's the name of a minigame in a FNAF game, but a buttload of games on Itch.io also use that name for whatever reason. I'd suggest "Mario's Jubilee" or "Mushroom Kingdom's Jubilee", it's unique and it gives an idea of what the game is about.
thanks for the notes, I'm working on Part 2 now and will definitely make sure to avoid such issues in that, maybe even go back and fix part 1. (my ultimate goal is to release it as one big complete download if I ever finish 2)
As for the name, yeah, I decided on that name maybe 7 years ago, and while not an original name to begin with, was before FNAF used it, eclipsing it in name recognition. I'm currently pondering a new name for Part 2.
